Performance

The Arteon is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that puts out 268 horsepower with and 258 pound-feet of torque. It's paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission that our Warwick drivers appreciate. The Arteon's powertrain is designed for comfort and efficiency, and you can feel it in the acceleration. The front-wheel-drive models get an EPA-rated 22/31 mpg city/highway.

With its adaptive suspension dampers standard, the Arteon can learn your driving style automatically. There are also manual modes you can use: Comfort, Normal, and Sport. No matter which mode you choose, the ride is precise and smooth. Its refined steering and capable handling are perfect for a luxury sedan.

The standard models are front-wheel-drive with all-wheel-drive on the higher trim levels. The VW Arteon has 18-, 19-, or 20-inch wheels depending on the selected trim.

The VW Arteon handles well, particularly around corners around East Providence. Designed to be agile and follow the driver's lead when navigating at higher speeds, the Arteon maintains balance. The steering responds quickly with feedback for the driver. The ride is comfortable with minimal road and wind noise in the cabin.

Safety Features

When it comes to safety features, the Volkswagen Arteon has you covered. Standard safety features include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection and blind-spot monitoring.

Adaptive cruise control is available and allows the driver to set the following distance right on the steering wheel. There you can also set the audio system's volume controls and adjust the vehicle speed. The ability to adjust the following distance isn't needed. The following distance reduces then resets at the top of the distance maximum cyclically for you. There's no need to adjust the acceleration at slow speeds, either. The system does it for you.

The automatic high beams and a 360-degree camera with front and rear parking sensors to help you park around Acushnet are available. Lane-keeping assist is also available along with rear cross-traffic monitoring with rear cross-traffic braking.

Interior and Technology

The interior of the Arteon is opulent with top-quality materials used and appealing styling cues. There's plenty of space inside where even larger men can ride in the front. The rear seating area is roomy too with plenty of legroom.

When you open the hatchback, you'll find 27 cubic feet of space for cargo. Compared to its peers that's a generous amount of space and great convenience. The heated front seats are standard. When you select the top-shelf SEL Premium trim package, the seats get ventilation, and a massage function is added for the driver. The rear seats are heated and there's also a power liftgate with the SEL Premium.

The infotainment system includes an 8.0-inch touch screen. You also get Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration for smartphones along with two USB ports. Navigation and a reconfigurable digital instrument display are available. You can also get other great tech features like emergency assistance, remote vehicle unlocking, and more.

Trim Levels

There are just two trim levels, SE and SEL, for Arteon but Volkswagen gives five choices to cover the configurations for its online system. The base model SE is the only one that has front-wheel-drive. The rest are standard all-wheel-drive.

The base SE model with front-wheel-drive also gives you access to VW's CarNet app connect system. The SE features LED lighting, the selectable drive modes, and rain-detecting windshield wipers. You can even adjust the firmness of the shock absorbers with a useful chassis control system. The base model has 18-inch wheels with the heated seats in the front and the 8.0-inch touch screen for the infotainment system.

The SE 4Motion is the SE model with all-wheel-drive added.

The SEL 4Motion motions have 19-inch wheels and a sunroof to let in the light. On the inside, it has a digital gauge cluster and the addition of adaptive cruise control. It also adds fine leather seating, ambient lighting, and navigation.

There's also the SEL R-Line 4Motion that sport "R-Line" badging on a unique front bumper and on the wheels.

Finally, there's the SEL Premium R-Line 4Motion. This top-shelf model has everything offered on lower trim levels. Then it adds unique 20-inch wheels to the exterior. The interior gets ventilated front seats with massage settings for the driver's seat. There's also a heated steering wheel and rear seats. And last but not least, the SEL Premium R-Line 4 Motion includes a Dynaudio-branded premium audio system for superior sound.
